About us

We, the Welfare Association of Disabled(WAD) under leadership of Late. V. Damodar Reddy had Resolved the basic needs like electricity, water, transport and education of the residents in Suraram Colony during the period 1986-91. In 15 years’ history of Quthbullapur Mandal, only school was started in Suraram Colony by efforts of Late. V. Damodar Reddy of WAD. and his friends Later it became ZPHS, SuraramColony.

WAD worked for handicapped people include general public and resolved the needs of colony residents like metro water works, banking services, underground drainage system and CC Roads under the leadership ofcurrent president Sri. G. Anjaiah Goud, Rtd. JL.

Our association has also acknowledged the streets,in due respect of Late. V.Damoder Reddy and Louis Braille as VDR and Louis Streets for around 16 different lanes and installed landmarks boards.

We also introduced water harvesting process to improve ground water and conducted multiple awareness programs on the importance of water harvesting, Planting Trees and avoiding plastic usage in our colonies. We have also setup CC TV footage in our Louis Braille Bhavan for security surveillance. And also been representing the colony for long while to the officials fora health center that made to situate the BasthiDawakhana. We took responsible for social monitoring street lights, drainage system, fogging and metro water supply.

In due respect of the Braille Script’s inventor, on 15th October 2010, We installed the Statue of Louis Braille in the colony. In later, we succeed to build Louis Bhavan on 21st May 2019 with kind help of local MLA & MP funds. Our motto is to situate multipurpose library, Computer Training Center for the poor students and visually handicapped, Skill improvement program for visually impaired employees.

We inaugurated former president of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam’sstatue in the August 2015 and Father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Suraram Colony bus terminal point with the help of local leaders and funds from near and dear. We also reconstructed our bus shelter with Sulabh complex near bus terminal point very recently. Now, we have planned to develop a Park and establish an own building for Anganwadi (Type of rural child care) shelter for the Suraram Colony area.
